  • DROPPING OFF AND COLLECTING STUDENTS/SAFEGUARDING:
  • Academy Classes - Is the parent/guardian's responsibility to ensure their child is dropped off and collected punctually from inside the foyers at Alderbrook School and St Philip's Centre. We are unable to dismiss children from the door into the car parks of these venues and we ask all parents to not sit in cars and wait for children. Late collection will be charged at the teacher’s discretion. The teacher reserves the right to turn a student away if late for a class without prior notice. Written consent is needed if you wish for your child to leave our venues unaccompanied e.g. to meet you in the car park. If this consent has not been received, the instructor will be unable to release your child until a parent is seen inside the building. Star-Struck Performing Arts Academy does not require parents to stay on the premises during classes and politely ask them not to enter the studio once a class is in session.
  • After-School Clubs - It is the parents responsibility to email Star-Struck before Midday if a child is absent on the day of club or has a change of home time arrangements eg going home with a friend, leaving early etc... If a child is absent and the Star-Struck teacher has not been informed by a parent or member of school, the Star-Struck teacher will call the phone number provided by the parent upon registration.
  • Safeguarding - Star-Struck is committed to ensuring the highest standard of safeguarding practice. All teachers, volunteers and staff have had the relevant checks required (DBS check, verification of identity, confirmation of qualifications and character references), awareness and training on specific safeguarding issues that can put children at risk of harm. We regularly give performance reviews and promote continued professional development in this area (please see our policies and procedures section on the website for further information).

MISSED LESSONS: There will be no reduction/refund/discount in fees for absence from class due to holiday, appointment, Covid isolation or non-serious illness. If part of a performance team, continued absence will result in immediate dismissal from the troupe.

ILLNESS: By registering your child with us, you authorise DBS checked Star-Struck staff to administer first aid or take your child to A&E in the event of sudden/severe illness, in which case we will notify the 'contact number' provided. Classes will be refunded in the event of extreme circumstances or medical illness only, sanctioned by Principal Katie Cooper and medical evidence provided e.g. doctors note.
